ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Lyman Frank Baum (1856-1919) was an American author renowned for his children's fantasy literature, notably "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and its series. Apart from the 14 Oz books, he authored 41 other novels, over 200 poems, 83 short stories, and at least 42 scripts. Baum's attempt to bring his stories to the stage and screen culminated in the iconic 1939 film adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz." After a journey from upstate New York to Chicago, he became a newspaper reporter and published children's literature, introducing the first Oz book in 1900. He was a visionary, addressing concepts like augmented reality, wireless communication, and women in non-traditional occupations.
